BY ANDREW LOWTHER

HAWTHORN tagger Brad Sewell has undergone surgery to have his appendix removed.

He becomes the second Hawthorn player to have the surgery after vice-captain Luke Hodge had his appendix removed two months ago.

The Hawks say Sewell sought medical advice after falling ill on Wednesday where the problem was discovered.

He had surgery immediately.

Best and fairest winner with the Hawks last year, Sewell has been sidelined with a shoulder injury since round ten.
