BROWN TO LEAVE LIONS?

BRISBANE Lions co-captain Jonathan Brown will return to Victoria unless the Lions can satisfy their star with a long-term contract.

That is the opinion of Caroline Wilson in today’s issue of The Age.

Wilson says Brown, who captained Victoria earlier this season, is seeking a five-year contract worth almost $6 million to stay with the Lions.

Wilson wrote: “The Age believes talks between the two parties have been placed on hold for close to a month, and while both player and club have voiced a preference to remain together for the duration of Brown’s football playing life, several Melbourne clubs still regard signing Brown as achievable should he remain out of contract towards the end of the season.”

Wilson named Collingwood, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs as the clubs Brown would most likely head to should he leave Brisbane.

FOOTYHEADS: What is Jonathan Brown worth? Who would you give up at your club to secure Brown? Is Wilson right in saying the Magpies, Tigers and Bulldogs are best for Brown?

Have your say, FootyHeads!

Did’nt Caroline Wilson say a while ago that she was sure that Brown would stay in Brisbane as he was building a house and liked the relative anonymity. Collingwood…………..I’m sure Brisbane will be happy to swap him for Scott Pendlebury, Mitchell Clark, Martin Clark and maybe Alan Didak…….

Nothing more than another strategic leak from his management to pressure Brisbane into agreeing to his terms, I’d say.

Interesting about the Western Bulldogs being a potential suitor. I’m sure Browny would just love being in the same line-up as Aker again.

Personally, I think he’d fit nicely into the blue and white hoops, but there’s no way they could afford him.
