OUT-OF-FORM St Kilda forward Fraser Gehrig is suffering from arthritis in his hands.

Coach Ross Lyon confirmed the veteran was struggling with his ball handling skills as a result of the illness.

“His hands are an issue. His hands are very arthritic and sore and affecting his ball handling,” Lyon said yesterday.

But Lyon is confident the G-Train is capable of turning his game around and is shaping as a contender when his team lines up against Richmond at the Telstra Dome on Saturday night.

“He’s got a very good record against Richmond, so he’ll come under strong consideration,” Lyon said.

FootyHeads, Do you think Fraser Gehrig made a mistake when he chose to return to football after initially retiring at the end of last season?

Should of just stayed out of the game when he retired. He’s got nothing now.
