FORMER AFL FOOTBALLER ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT

A Former AFL footballer has been arrested in his Port Melbourne apartment this evening following an alleged assault on police in which they had to subdue the man with capsicum spray.

The man was arrested at 8pm in his Rouse street residence however police refused to identify the man in his 30’s.

The man believed to have made the call to police is believed to be the manager of the apartment block.

“There was a man from that address that wanted a woman to leave,” Victoria Police Senior Constable Wayne Wilson said.

“Police arrived and then at the front door the fellow from the address allegedlt assaulted police officers.”

“They struggled with him, sprayed him. He got arrested and taken to the St. Kilda police station where he was spoken to and interviewed, and a brief of evidence will be prepared in relation to assault police.”
